St. Patrick’s Day is round the corner. If you want to find more activities to entertain your students, you’ll find the following web-sites interesting and challenging.

I am going to share one activity especially if you don’t have much time and want to mention about Irish national holiday.

I usually try to combine language and culture content material.

St. Patrick’s Day.

St.Patrick’s Day is here, you see

We’ll pick some shamrocks, one, two, three.

We’ll count the leaves and look them over,

And may be find a four- leafed clover.

I’ll sew green buttons on my vest,

Green for St. Patrick’s is the best.

I’ll wear a green hat, very high,

And dance a jig, at least I’ll try.

This short poem may be used for different purposes:

• For warm-up activity

• For presenting some grammar: Future Simple.

• For presenting culture

You may tell a short story about shamrock, the legend says that Patrick used the three leafed shamrock to explain the Trinity.

He used it to represent how the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit could all exist as separate elements of the same entity.

All his followers adopted the custom of wearing a shamrock on his feast day.

So to find a four-leafed shamrock is a sigh of good luck, to dance jig – jig is a national Irish dance.

You’ll find a lot more if you try the sites.

Happy St.Patrick’s Day and happy surfing!
