2018 Just interested, what the strategy was to guess the word in Challenge 34. Was it one of the sentences with a revealing clue or the familiar collocation or the knowledge of the vocabulary item? I am asking because I actually gave the clue in the challenge but was it noticed?

2018 To Mr. Radislav Millrood My strategy to guess the word in Challenge 34 was very simple. I looked at these three subjects " Fish, Thermometer and Spider" and tried to associate them... Variants were different but the word "scale" was the only common feature. Thanks a lot for the interesting task!
2018 I've associated the Russian meanings of the word combinations "шкала термометра, чешуя рыбы" with English and then looked up in the dictionary Поделиться сообщением Ссылка на сообщение Поделиться на других сайтах
2018 Hi 'eggalina'! I agree with you! More than that, having looked through my dictionary I read "SCALE" means

Match the first lines and the novels. The first lines: 1. It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. 2. It was a bright cool day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen. 3. It was a pleasure to burn. 4. There was no possibility of taking a walk that day. 5. Whether I shall turn out to be the hero of my own life, or whether that station will be held by anybody else, these pages must show.
