The official web-site of the British Monarchy.

Would you like to know when Buckingham Palace was built? What is Maundy Money? How many visits does The Queen pay every year or listen to the Queen’s Piper?

Visit www.royal.gov.uk

It’s the official site of the British Monarchy. Dating back over ten centuries, the Monarchy plays an important role in the UK and Commonwealth.

The web-site provides information on the work of The Queen in modern society, biographies of The Royal Family, a history of Kings and Queens throughout the ages, background on Royal residences and art collections, and coverage of recent Royal events.

The front page is very informative and easy to navigate.

You’ll find the following rubrics:

• Latest news

• Quick Links

• Out and about

• Gallery with lots of photos

• Focus

This month, for example, Out and About is devoted to Sir Edmund Hillary, in Focus you’ll find information about St. George’s Chapel in Windsor castle.

Special attention may be drawn to Royal You Tube www.youtube.com/theroyalchannel

There you’ll see a lot of short video clips about the Royal family, including Royal Kitchen.

These short video clips may be used as authentic video materials at the lessons.

And also you may ask any question by sending e-mail or do the quiz.

Happy surfing!
