Have got".
The cow is in the house.

Приятного обучения!

Have you ever thought about visiting some castles in the UK, when you look at them at the pictures in your English books? I would like you to invite to visit the most famous сastle Rochester, sitting near your computer and reading my article.
Castle Rochester is situated in the city of the same name in the county Kent. It is one of the first stone сastles in England and the highest.
Rochester protects the way from the south to London. William the Conqueror presented lands of Eilesford to Odo in Kent. He was the bishop of Bayonne. In 1086 the ownership of the bishop is mentioned in the Doomsday Book.
In 1087 Odo rose against William Ruffus and William laid siege to Rochester. After taking Rochester and proscription of the bishop, from 1087 till 1090, a famous builder Gundulf, began the stone castle`s erection in the city. The walls were built in the city wall`s corner, kept from Roman times.
In 1127 the castle was given to William de Corbeille, archbishop of Canterbury by Edict of Henry I English with the order “to make the reinforcement or the Tower, which will keep the city for centuries”. William reinforced the castle`s donjon seriously and built four corner towers to it.
Castle Rochester`s donjon is a square 21x21 meters with a side building at the bottom and 34 meters tall. The corner towers are rising on 4 meters more. The wall`s thickness at the bottom is 4 meters and 3, 3 meters at the top.
The room inside is divided by the crosscut wall, which is going from the west to the east.
The donjon`s entrance is on the second floor-level, in a special penthouse. The stairs to the penthouse begins on the donjon`s west side, bends round its north-west tower and goes to the tower`s entrance. The access of the first floor is by winding stairs from the second floor. The first floor of the castle was used as a storehouse.
The Main Hall is on the third floor and the crosscut wall has a view of three arches. The Main Hall occupies two floors of the building and there is a gallery on the fourth floor-level.
The third floor of the penthouse is Chapel. There are private archbishop’s restrooms and private chapel.
In the 18th century the castle was planned to destroy, but in order to one accident, it wasn`t happened.
Now, the castle is clear, partly restored and opened for visiting.

Everyone likes songs. You just put on CD and press "play", don`t you?
Probably the most important thing is to choose a song in which the lyrics are clear. Choose a singer with a nice clear voice, like Frank Sinatra, for example. The recording should also be a good one.
There`s also the issue of whether or not the language is a suitable level-difficulty. And it is also a question od whether your students like the song.

What do you do with a song?
1. Do some listening exercises. In planning what you are going to do with a song you want to think about productive pre-, during- and post-listening tasks that are going to be language rich.
2. If you want to do some "fill-in-the-gaps exercises", please do it. But remember, you should do the exersice with the blanking words at the end of the line, but not the words that they rhyme with. It will be difficult for your students.
3. You could also try giving them, say, 12 chunks of the song, and get them to do it (before listening) as a "jigsaw reading" exercise, which they could then confirm during listening.

These summer holidays I dedicated to preparation for the Pedagogical Conference. This idea came to my mind when I saw the document from our Committee of Education by my school director. And also she suggested me to take part in it. I didn`t want, but at the last moment I agreed.
First of all, I thought about my topic. There were no ideas in my mind, everything about I thought was told some years ago or last year. I was searching for something new. The thoughts left my mind. Then I remembered my best friend, I asked him to help me with the topic. He agreed with pleasure. He suggested me some of themes and then I began to formulate my future topic of the report. After it my friend gave me some recommendations how and what I can write about. The main aim of my work was to make interesting my report in order to attract my listeners` attention.
My work began from the searching material in the Internet and books. It took one week to find an interesting and useful material. Then I had to print and read it carefully. After this work I began writing. In some days my report was ready and I sent it to my friend for reading. He sent me it back some days later with the list of recommendations what I must change in my report. My work continued and in some time I made a new verse of my report. Then I decided to make a presentation of some useful points of my report and I did it.
The work finished some days before the Conference. I had to connect with the Committee of Education. I rang, but that who was responsible for this work didn`t answer. This situation repeated every day. At last I found out that I wouldn`t take part in the Conference. Some other participants were chosen. I was so disappointed. I spent a lot of time for making report and also a lot of forces. But some minutes later I thought: “I can present my report on the English teachers` forum, isn`t it?

I live not far from a very famous and beautiful town Tikhvin. It is situated in Leningradskaya oblast, in about 200 kilometres from St. Petersburg. The main river of the town is the Tikhvinka, where there are a lot of fish. The name of the city originates from a combination of two words from the Veps language: "tikh" and "vin" mean "road" and "market", i.e. road to the market. More about Tikhvin you can learn here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tikhvin

The ability to write well in English is very important nowadays. You fill out various forms, exchange SMS and other messages, chat in the Internet and write letters. And do you think sometimes about your spelling and punctuation? What about your grammar, especially tenses? Were there cases when you addressee didn`t understand you?
Written English is more formal than spoken English. It means that in writing the rules of grammar are observed more precisely, the choice of words is more careful. The style is more elaborate. In oral speech you can correct your thoughts. What you write and send should be correct. Good writing skills are very important.
Good spelling is also very important part of writing. And it is also one of the most difficult fields of written English. There are many spelling rules and many exceptions from the rules, too.
Punctuation rules specify where to use the signs of punctuation. The English punctuation is a little different from the Russian one. You also should know how to make an English sentence. It depends on your understanding of English syntax and its rules.
In addition to the writing skills mentioned above, language learners need to know how to write different kinds of letters: business letters, reports, essays.

"Happy people... Happy people ... ..." - Anna repeated, pacing from corner to corner of her room. "Silly topic. Stupid essay. Zhanna Victorovna came up with the same. "Anna stopped and looked out the window."Happy People. Who are they? "Downstairs, she saw neighbours. "They can not be exactly poor," - thought Anna, looking at aunt Valya from a neighbouring flat. "She was always crying, always dissatisfied with something,swears at children and husband. Her screams bored around the house. "The girl continued to look at the neighbours` yard."Do not be sick like my uncle Bob. After a terrible diagnosis, he was drinking, divorced with his wife. His children don`t visit him. He only drinks, he drinks and drinks. ""So," - happily smiling, she ran to the desk, picked up the pen and opened the copybook."Happy people - people who have a lot of money that are healthy and that ...." - She thought for a moment - "beautiful." Completed this sentence, Anna set point."There`s the beginning. I can have a rest and run for ice-cream. If mum asks, I would say that ice-cream helps to think, without it essay will not be finished. "Anna grabbed her jacket and ran out of the house.Spring. The sun shines. All blooms. There are people everywhere."And I'm among the people. Someone of them should be happy. It is only necessary to find the man, look at him more closely and to describe him in my essay. Hooray! I am a genius! "- She thought.Sitting on the bench, she began closely examine the people."That one guy just must be happy." - Anna thought about the guy, just left his expensive foreign car. - "Young. Pretty rich. He must be happy. "She decided to take a closer look at him, to describe him in her essay. Suddenly they met views."Oh, the horror! Empty eyes. He looks at the world, but does not see it. He looks through it. No. He could not be happy. He's like a living dead. Hence, the presence of large amounts of money - this is not a sign of a happy man. Money. Money. How many of them to be happy. Probably a lot, but enough. Huge amounts of money consume your soul. And beauty? Beautiful people should be happy "Anna started to look into the crowd of beautiful people. And then she saw a beautiful girl who is clearly waiting for someone. In the distance she saw a guy with a bouquet of wild flowers. He walked toward the girl."She should be happy. She's beautiful and loved. Now they go together in a cafe "- Ann`s imagination quickly drew a picture in which happy lovers walk past her. But what is it? Beauty eyed guy look arrogant, contemptuous and took a bunch and threw it into the trash."How could she? He wholeheartedly gave her the bouquet. He loves her. "Anna tried to see the girl's eyes."Eyes. Her eyes are like glass. She is only a little. She was unhappy, but does not know it. So, beauty is also no guarantee of happiness. Beautiful and happy - this is not synonymous. "The girl began to look into the faces of passers-by. She did not look at any clothes, no matter the age. She looked into their eyes and tried to find a gleam of happiness."Happy People. Who are they? What are they? "

Pieces of language from the “real world” can include newspapers, menus, magazines, adverts, radio broadcasts, television programmes, websites and etc.
The web is a fantastic resource for finding simple and more complex texts about almost any topic.You will find reviews, articles, and longer texts for your pupils to read.
Because the text is real, the language is not graded, so start with some pre-reading tasks with your pupils.
• Predicting the co ntent of the text by looking at the title/picture/headline;
• Eliciting what students know about the subject of the text, what they don`t know;
• A group discussion about the subject of the text;
• Answering questions about the subject of the text;
• Guessing meaning;
• Identifying key words;
• Skimming – reading for the basic gist;
• Scanning – looking for specific facts;
• Matching key vocabulary – English to target language;
• Matching key vocabulary to definitions in the target language;
• Extract the key vocabulary and ask pupils to put the words into groups, e.g. nouns connected to personality.

Jigsaw texts
Find a text with 5-6 paragraphs. Cut it up and give one paragraph to each pair. They read it and then summarize
the paragraph and read it to the others. They then decide as a group in the target language the order of the paragraphs.
Give them the completed article to see if they were right.
An alternative to this is to summarize each paragraph yourself in a sentence and then ask the pupils to match
the sentence to the correct paragraph. They can then put the paragraphs into the correct order.

P.S. This material I was also found in my university`s notices.

Ever since I can remember myself, I have hated to read. As a child it was very boring thing for me to sit with a book. Later as a teen, I understood that reading is a wonderful world, which keeps a lot of secrets. Now as an adult, books are a constant in my life and I can`t go to sleep without one next to my bed. Therefore, I want my pupils to learn to love reading, but it is a long hard work for me, because a lot of them prefer playing computer games and walking instead of it. Children read less today in their tongue. Over the years books have fallen to the side. It is such easier to watch something passively than have to work a bit to be entertained. Moreover, it is work to read. Especially, when many children don`t have the skills to read well. Reading is a skill, which everyone has to survive in this world, and how to read in English is also a skill. English became an international language; especially today many professions need the language knowledge. Without knowing how to read in English, survival in the world is going to be very difficult. As English teachers, we have an extremely difficult mission. We are expected in a short period of time to bring our students from a level of non-readers to a fairly high level of reading. This is a difficult task in the sense that most kids only begin to learn to read English in either third or fourth grade. For this most difficult task of teaching reading we are given two hours a week. Well, I would love to see more hours given to the teaching of English in Primary school. Do you agree with me?
