How to swap culture.

For all those who have just joined the site, here is a little recap of who we are and what they do.

 

The Worldwide Culture Swap is a free initiative set up to promote cultural awareness and education for children. You can read about who they are here.

If you sign up for the Worldwide Culture Swap you will be put in a group with 5 families from around the world. The objective of the swap is to share information with each family about the country in which you live (or that you will be representing) so that they can get a feel for the culture of that country. This is achieved by sending a package (usually addressed to the child or children) with bits and pieces that you have chosen to give a good overview of what it is like to live there. So if you are in a group with 5 families you will send 4 packages (and receive 4).

 

On this website we will show pictures of the packages you send and receive. You can link your blog posts to our monthly Culture Swapper link up so that we can feature them here and on our Facebook page. You can also link up or send us pictures or articles to add from where you are from like a local recipe or craft.

Коллеги, очень интересная идея. Мне на следующий день после регистрации пришёл ответ. Я уже в группе №85, в моей группе 2 американки, англичанка и аргентинка. Теперь мы обсуждаем, наши посылки (оговариваем предпочтения и сроки). Сейчас попробую сама ,лично-семейное участие, а в сентября Culture Swap for schools. Присоединяйтесь!

Действительно. очень интересно. Вот уже несколько дней идет постоянное общение: появляются новые идеи, просьбы, вопросы по поводу оформления. Люди в группе попались очень общительные и доброжелательные: две семьи из США.одна из Канады и одна из Англии. Когда я предложила записать на диск и послать работы своих учеников (о Москве, России, знаменитых людях, рецепты русской кухни - то есть все то, что они делают как проекты к урокам) получила восторженные ответы.

Yes, I think that is a wonderful idea. And it would be an honor to see your students work. I am amazed at people who are able to learn another language! I am trying to learn Spanish and it is not easy! I commend your students for their hard work.
